Dark lips are huge for fall and although this take on the gothic classic is a little more romantic it makes a big statement. Here are some tips to help you get the perfect goth lip look.
Make it even: Gently use a lip exfoliator if you feel like you have really flaky lips. If it doesn’t work at the exact moment go with a glossy dark lip color to hide it.
De-fuzz your peach fuzz: Make sure that there’s no hair on your upper lip. The wrong kind of attention will go to your mouth.
Lip Balm: Keep your lips moisturized. Try to get a lip balm that’s not too glossy and more of a matte finish.
Glowing skin: Spend time to perfect your skin because if your dark lips are going up against blotchiness or redness it just doesn’t look as fresh. Look for a good BB or CC cream or tinted moisturizer that will help you achieve a glowing, even complexion.
Find your best dark lip hue: I love that kind more purple based color on fair-to-medium skin because it gives a vintage, vampy, renaissance look. If your skin is more olive, go with more of a deep burgundy. If you have a very dark skin tone, use a merlot color and mix in a very tiny amount of black or brown to give the color depth and impact.
To line or not to line? If you feel the need for lip liner go with a lip brush and then perfect the look around the lip using just the product itself or get a wine or blood-red-rose hued lip liner. Remember you don’t need to trace you whole mouth just reshape the corners for example using light strokes.
